Heroic Factoring and Evolution

A Hero is an interesting thing.

As a child we have the vision of a perfect hero, something we wish to completely emulate. Often this vision of a hero is shattered by reality, as we come to find that everyone doesnt fit into an ideal.

But just as fast as this ideal is shattered we rebound, and realize that the very imperfections in theese heroic figures are what makes them so heroic, their ability to adapt and to rise above their own shortcomings in some way. So we break this down, in an effort to emulate. We take our fathers' courage, we take our mothers' dependability, we take Samuel L. Jackson's style.

But there are flaws in our common ideas of the Hero. Often they seem unreachable - epic. We dont realize, that much like us, they had heroes too. So the idea i propose is Simple : Heroic Evolution

My Father is one of my Heroes. Muhammad Ali is one of my Father's Heroes.

What did my Dad emulate in Muhammad Ali that i now try to Emmulate in my Dad? What is it that keeps us all in common ? What is it that links me, to the heroes of Muhammad Ali's heroes? is there one common thread?

if there is, then wouldnt it be true that we all have an army of theese figures behind us, descending in time, all tied together by one progressive thought? And even more startling, how many will be in front of us, and have we in a sense become more epic than thoose figures before us, in it is now our responsibility to choose what to pass down?

S.S.E.

Some of you may have heard of a new philosophy i have been toying with, its rather simple.

90% of all your problems can be solved or soothed by performing one of three actions.

Shit, Sleep, Eat.

Now, i realize it sounds ridiculous but think about it for a second. This is why ice cream, cheesecake and cheeseburgers are popular. This is the reason for the sleepcomfort bed, the goose down pillow. This is why thoose goddamn bears in charmin commercials are smiling all the time - and by the way, we know what you are doing behind that tree, however we complement you on your martha stewart-esque use of the small branch as a toliet paper dispenser.

The reason for this philosophy is trifold.

1) Theese basic needs are biological nessicities.
Our mental and physical health heavily relies upon keeping theese needs met. If you throw in "dont get eaten by a huge fuck-all animal" and "reproduce" then you pretty much have your Cro-magnum checklist for sucsess in the prehistoric world.

2) Simple solutions to a problem are a must.
First of all, it gives you somewhere to start, to make progress on your problem. No matter what the problem is, it will compound with other issues, lots of small worries usually will tank a person. Did i lose you? think about it as bracing yourself against a blow. A good night's rest and a solid meal ( and release of said meal when the time is right) will not only allow you to handle your problem effectively, but will give you a feeling of solidity - as scar would say..."Be prepared!" Second of all, it puts perspective on whatever your facing. meet your needs, and you'll be around to handle everything else. Didnt do your essay? You fail your class. Dont eat? You die.

3) Theese basic needs influence us on many levels.
if you dont eat, you'll feel crappy- headache, weakness, loss of concentration. Sound familar? pretty much any problem will make us feel like this. I wonder how many times i have felt like a problem is insurmountable but in reality i just didnt get enough sleep.

By no means do i think this is the end-all to stress as we know it, but it's been an interesting thought for me. Maybe there is value in emphasizing problems that you can easily handle ? Who knows.

Futile Attempt.

In an effort to write more, i have started this blog. Unfortunately i run into one major problem, i am not a big fan of journals, i guess if i felt like i had something i wanted someone to know i'd tell them. and if i had something i didnt want someone to know, i wouldnt put it online.

So therefore this blog will be pretty general, and i will try and avoid specific events in my life. Because as enthralling as my life is, i am sure anyone who is unfortunate enough to stumble across this blog will appreciate the fact i have left out the pages of me describing some argument, and then a day later describing the resolution. Or as i like to call it, 95% of Online Blogs and Journals.

So whats left? well, nothing really, so i will type about whatever comes to mind. and feel free to comment on whatever comes to mind, if anyone ends up reading this. No promises on it being interesting, or even coherent.
